Respect in the workplace is vital in order to have a successful, thriving organization. This applies to all interpersonal relationships that occur in the workplace (coworkers, clients, management, etc.). A respectful work environment is a safe work environment that allows employees to feel and perform their best. Environments that tolerate toxic behavior face serious problems like failure to retain employees, chronic negativity, burnout, and depression. Toxic workplace traits can occur in forms of bullying, sexual harassment, and disrespect. It is important to promote inclusion, communication, privacy and reporting inappropriate behavior in the workplace.
